Joel Korte,
CEO

As a company founder, successful entrepreneur and senior vice president for a $2 Billion+ private contracted services firm, Joel Korte brings a broad range of experience to Moore Landscapes.

Joel has over 30 years of experience working with property managers, facility owners, commercial developers and landscape architecture firms in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest Regions. His construction project experience includes more than 300 major corporate office parks and buildings in 25 municipalities.

In 1993, Joel founded a Columbus landscape firm, Urban Environments, Inc., which experienced double-digit revenue and profit growth for 10 consecutive years while winning multiple business and industry awards and recognition. He sold that business to Brickman Group in 2004 and successfully integrated the existing team into Brickman.

His expertise includes strategic direction, sales growth, operations management, and mergers and acquisition negotiation and operational integration. Technical competencies include comprehensive landscape management, construction implementation, design coordination, project budgets, RFP processes and proposal evaluation.

Gordon Held,
General Manager

Gordon has worked in the golf course and landscape contracting sectors as an operations manager, installation manager, branch manager and sales consultant for Fortune 500 companies. Gordon joined Moore Landscapes team in 2007 as the VP of New Business Development. Gordon is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in agronomy and turf grass maintenance. Promoted to General Manager in 2014 his current duties include:

  • Expanding sales to existing clients and increasing new business.
  • Defining company direction through new strategies
  • Overseeing all projects, labor, material, and equipment and utilizing the best practices, maximizing efficiencies, and controlling expenses.
  • Managing a safe work environment.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction through customer relations.
  • Managing budgets and P&L statements for all projects to meet profit objectives.
  • Understanding monthly financial reports and work load projections.
  • Personnel development including attracting and developing managers and professional staff.

Stacey Diedrick,
Executive Vice President of Business Operations

Stacey graduated from Western Michigan University where she majored in Business Administration. Stacey has been with the firm since 1987 and is now responsible for:

  • Overseeing client and employee satisfaction through managing the financial systems functions of the company to ensure efficiency, productivity, profitability, high quality of work, and compliance with deadlines.
  • Managing multiple functions of administration including finance and all aspects of the accounting process, which includes: the general ledger, payables, receivables, purchasing, payroll, job-costing, forecasting, tax compliance, in addition to overseeing human resources which include the 401k administration.
  • Analyzing financial data, budgets, and forecasts and encouraging consistent reliability and accountability from staff members to maintain the established profit goals.

Bill Parker,
Regional Vice President

Attended Harper College and worked for many years in the landscaping industry before joining the firm in 1980. His broad experience and his designation as a Certified Arborist add an extra dimension to his work with the company’s clients. His current responsibility is overseeing the entire Maintenance Department of the firm and his duties include:

  • Continuously increasing client and employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Preparing and implementing management programs that include technical and administrative direction such as Plant Health Care specifications (PHC) and site evaluations.
  • Developing strategies and techniques for successful bidding, estimating, and managing all aspects of exterior maintenance operations including labor, materials, safety requirements, procedures, and monitoring to meet the established company goals.
  • Managing and mentoring Account Executives and field personnel including employee training and coordination of total-site landscape management.

Paul Sheets,
Account Executive - Chicago

Paul studied furniture and interior design at Kendall College is Grand Rapids, Michigan where he learned drafting and scale drawing. He then attended Hunter College in New York City and took classes at The Art Student’s League. Upon entering the workforce, he focused on interiorscapes and holiday design. During the mid-90’s, he spent two years as an operations manager where his responsibilities included maintenance services and installation. Because of his impressive design background, it was a simple transition to the sales team. In 1999, he worked alongside Maggie Daley and the city of Chicago on their design and installation of holiday décor for the millennium holiday spectacular. A couple years later, he would expand the portfolio of large company to include exterior landscaping. In 2011, his talents finally came to Moore Landscapes. Since arriving, his projects have been selected for multiple local and state awards. His properties have won the ILCA’s Gold Award for Commercial Maintenance in back-to-back years (2013 - 2014). His responsibilities include:

  • Client relations
  • Finding creative design solutions
  • Budget management

Dawn Rummel,
Senior Account Executive – Suburbs

Dawn comes to Moore Landscapes with many years in the industry. She holds an Associate Degree in Landscape Design and Certificate in Floralculture from the College of Lake County. She has won numerous ALCA (American Landscape Contractor Associates) awards in both design and installation. Her experience in the horticulture field includes interior and exterior landscape designs, landscape maintenance, floral designs, holiday designs and coordination, product merchandising and garden retail management. Her new duties at Moore include:

  • Client satisfaction
  • Quality control
  • Project coordination
  • Business development
  • Mentor and assist Account Executives with budget planning, procedures, site management and enhancements

Oscar Chavez,
Service and Snow Operations Manager – Chicago

Oscar has nearly twenty years of landscape experience in the city of Chicago. Starting as a laborer, he was quickly promoted to foreman. After four years, he took on new responsibilities as a supervisor for a national company; overseeing twenty-five crewmembers and managing a portfolio worth over a million dollars. He joined Moore in 2007 as the service and snow operations manager. In addition to his maintenance and snow responsibilities, his duties also include:

  • Overseeing enhancement installations
  • Aiding in floral rotation and landscape design
  • Directing weekly safety training for crews
  • Scheduling and logistics

 

 

Tony Brekke,
Account Executive - Chicago

Tony graduated from the Iowa State University in 1993 after receiving a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture. He has worked throughout the Chicagoland area since 1995.  In this time, he has gained experience in all areas of Landscape Architecture and Landscape Maintenance.

Tony’s career spans over two decades working on public, private and commercial projects. His responsibilities at Moore include:

  • Commercial design/maintenance
  • Sub-contract administration
  • Annual Budgets
  • Annual flower rotation designs  

Nancy Mstowski,
Account Executive - Chicago

Nancy began her horticulture profession in 1999 after completing an internship program with The Morton Arboretum, where she was then appointed assistant greenhouse/nursery grower. Since then, she has held a number of positions in the horticulture industry, in both public and private. Nancy has continued her professional growth as an Account Executive with Moore Landscapes. She strives to achieve the utmost quality of service to her clients. Her responsibilities include:

  •          Establish and maintain client relations
  •          Administration and oversight of landscape maintenance contracts and enhancement proposals
  •          Oversee budgets through work management system
  •          Design/install seasonal annual flower rotations
  •          Propose landscape design ideas

Kerry Schneider,
Account Executive - Suburbs

Kerry is happy to be working for one of the premier full service landscape contractors in the Chicagoland area. His responsibilities include cultivating new business as a business development representative as well as helping with the account management. Kerry is responsible for the sales of new business, interior installation and maintenance, landscape design, construction, snow services, irrigation services and anything landscape-related. Kerry has worked in the landscape industry for 37 years, starting out doing field work until graduating to sales and business development for the last 30 years for various companies. Kerry is responsible for customer satisfaction, quality control, monitoring crew members and assuring that new business is always cultivated into the company.

Jim Pearson,
VP of Maintenance

Jim graduated from the University of Illinois in 1991 after receiving a Bachelor of Science in Ornamental Horticulture. He also attended the University of Georgia, where he majored in Entomology. Jim joined Moore in 2006 after working in the Landscape Maintenance field both in Chicago and the Naperville area. He has maintained a Commercial Spray license throughout his career and in 2014 received his CLT certification.

Jim oversees all aspects of the Mayor Daley’s Green Streets floral contract with the City of Chicago. He also oversees all aspects of the following contracts:

  • North Lake Shore Dive
  • South Lake Shore Drive
  • Floral District Wide
  • Chicago Park District

Kevin Moroney,
Horticulturalist

Kevin graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s in Botany in 1978. He was a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala involved in a beekeeping development project in the early 80’s. He has worked in lawn care, arboriculture, and landscaping for over three decades. He is currently working on North and South Lake Shore Drive.

Kevin is a(n):

  • Certified arborist
  • Illinois Department of Agriculture licensed Commercial Pesticide Applicator
  • PLANET (Professional Landcare Network) certified Exterior Manager
  • CLT in both Installation and Maintenance.

Aaron Lopez,
Service Leader and Snow Commander

Aaron has been in the industry for 20 years in the Chicagoland area. His previous experience includes working as a Maintenance, Seasonal Color, Enhancements, Snow, Operations and Account Manager. He is currently working as a Service Leader on the North and South Lake Shore Drive contracts as well as serving as Snow Manager. Aaron joined Moore in 2004 when he worked on the Chicago Park District contracts until 2008. He returned to the company in 2016. He joined the ILCA and received his CLT certification in 2008. He has also maintained his Applicator’s Spray License since 2006 and has been a CDL Class A driver since 2003.

Jose B. Ruvalcaba,
Service Leader 

Jose joined Moore in 2003 as a CDL Driver maintaining the medians for the City of Chicago. He has amassed many years of experience in landscape maintenance and enhancements and has his certification in administration. 

  • Conducting weekly safety talks
  • Supervision of CDOT Greenstreets Program crews
  • Supervision of subcontractors
  • Managing daily reports for The Chicago Department of Transportation
  • Scheduling crew schedules

Jan Wemple,
Business Development

Jan is a graduate of Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan with a degree in Economics / Business. She has extensive sales, client service, and sales management experience in delivering B2B services. Jan is a member of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) and is a board member with the Friends of Volo Bog. She is the membership chairperson of BOMA suburban Chicago and has been selected as BOMA’S Associate Member of the Year.  Her designs have won numerous awards including National Grand Awards. Jan's primary functions are:

  • Developing new commercial accounts
  • Assisting in outbound marketing
  • Coordinating, corresponding, estimating, and proposal activities
  • Offering solutions to property managers for interior and exterior landscape design/services
  • Holiday design and sales

Michael Thompson,
Interior Maintenance Supervisor

Michael attended California State University – Northridge. He has nearly 25 years’ experience in the industry and had worked for many interior landscape providers before joining the Moore Team in 2009. He is an expert on tropical plants and is always aware of how environmental elements can affect their ability to thrive in a given area. Michael is an ALCA Pesticide Licensed Member and has been a Certified Landscape Technician since 1998. His responsibilities include:

  • Training and developing the skills of technicians
  • Improving customer satisfaction
  • Overseeing the interior maintenance of Moore’s entire company portfolio.

Chistopher Coe,
Vice President of Construction

Chris received a B.S. in Landscape Management from Purdue University where he was honored as a Distinguished Student. Chris joined the firm in 1983 and after a four-year apprenticeship as a foreman, he joined the construction estimating department.

Chris’s duties now include:

  • Client and employee satisfaction
  • Sales
  • Purchasing
  • Sub-contract administration
  • Employee training
  • Coordinating total-site landscape development with municipal corporations, owners, developers, general contractors, and architects.

Kevin Coe
Project Manager – Landscape Architect

Kevin is a graduate of Purdue University with a B.S. in Landscape Architecture. He came to the firm in 1993 from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County where he developed master plans for 52 individual forest preserves comprising 23,000 acres.

Kevin is a Registered Landscape Architect in the State of Illinois and a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). His duties include:

  • Residential and commercial design
  • Estimating
  • Annual flower rotation designs 
  • Coordinating total-site landscape development with owners, developers, general contractors, property managers and architects

Katherine Hodge,
Accounting Administrator

Katherine joined the staff in 2005 as an Administrative Specialist. In 2008-2009, she attended the University of Phoenix and is currently the company-wide Accounting Administrator. She also acts as the Northbrook Office Manager.

Her duties include:

  • Daily Human Resources activities including payroll, employee relations, benefits administration, workplace investigations, worker's compensation, etc.
  • Daily Accounting activities including billing, accounts receivable, waivers, etc.
  • Manages the I-Pass account, fleet registration renewals and assists with the preparation of project bids
  • Provides support to VP’s and Account Executives.

J.C. Ferral,
Administrative Specialist

JC joined the administration team at Moore Landscapes in March of 2015. His work ethic, which displays a strong foundation in business administration coupled with collegiate studies in geography, history and criminal justice; make him a key company asset. Prior to working at Moore, he worked for JP Morgan Chase in government processing and as a fingerprinting officer for the Board of Education. In this position JC serves as a primary point of contact between Northbrook and Chicago offices, working closely with administration, account execs, and company crew to streamline company operations. His primary duties include:

  • Preparation of client proposals and work orders for Account Executives
  • Utilization of company database for special projects
  • Identification of solutions to administrative problems
  • Daily reporting for the Greenstreets Project
  • Assist and reports to Accounting Administrator
  • Front end office operations

 

Michael Cabrera,
Graphic Artist & IT Manager

Michael came to Moore in 1997 after accumulating over 10 years of IT  and graphic arts  experience. This combination made him the ideal candidate to fill such a unique role which includes the following responsibilities:

  • Staging and production of photography for the company website, events, and award submissions
  • Troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues
  • Installing, configuring and maintaining software applications
  • Supporting and maintaining a range of computer and telecommunications equipment
  • Provides end user training for hardware and software
  • Resolves issues related to remote access, email and network access
  • Account creation, provisioning, deactivation, permission assignment, and password management
  • Communicates with network operations and development teams to escalate advanced issues

Sean Mallory,
Purchasing Manager & Marketing Manager

Sean has a decade’s worth of landscape experience, starting as a member of a groundskeeping crew on a celebrity estate in upstate New York. In 2008, he moved to Chicago and after a brief stint working with non-profits, he returned to the world of landscape maintenance as a foreman. In 2010, he joined Moore Landscapes as the yard manager for their Chicago location and eventually moved into Purchasing and Marketing. His responsibilities include:

  • Material procurement
  • Delivery logistics
  • Managing material budgets
  • Proposals preparation
  • Designing and creating marketing materials
  • Website-design and content maintenance
