POSITION:  Fleet Manager / Head Mechanic

Number and types of Equipment:
Trucks:  80  (Primarily Ford)
Skid Steer / Back Hoe / Front End Loaders:  20
Above listed equipment used for snow removal: 35
Enclosed Maintenance Trailers:  15
Open Construction Trailers: 12
Small engine equipment: Approx. 300

Duties  (include but not limited to):

Hire, train, and supervise other shop personnel.

Execute Preventative Maintenance program.

Order all parts/supplies for shop and equipment needs.

Assist in specifying out new equipment.

Out sourcing repairs when appropriate.

Maintain records pertaining to fleet repairs.

Out sourcing truck bodywork due to accidents.

Analyzing painting needs and out sourcing such work.

Facility Management.

Budgeting fleet / shop / facility expenses.

Determination of equipment life span and selling off used equipment.

Assist in equipment use training.  Document equipment abuse and when appropriate, perform oral and written warnings to offenders.

Perform hands-on repairing of equipment.  

Over see small engine mechanics and their duties. 

Other duties associated with typical fleet management positions.
